Article Title: Metabolic adaptation of a methanogen to a ferruginous environment associated with intracellular Fe- and S-rich nanoparticles
Journal: Frontiers in Microbiology
doi: 10.3389/fmicb.2026.1967823
Figure Legend Snippet: X-ray diffraction patterns of synthesized mackinawite.
Techniques Used: Synthesized
Figure Legend Snippet: Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution TEM (HRTEM), fast Fourier transform (FFT), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) analyses of mackinawite under different Fe 2+ and HS − conditions. The TEM images in the top row show (A) 50 µM FeS Mack alone, (B) 50 µM FeS Mack supplemented with 250 µM Fe 2+ , and (C) 50 µM FeS Mack supplemented with 250 µM HS − . The corresponding HRTEM images, FFT patterns, and EDS spectra are shown below each TEM image in the same column. TEM images show the general morphology, while HRTEM images reveal lattice fringes corresponding to specific crystallographic planes. Together, these analyses support the identification of the material as nanocrystalline mackinawite.

In this study, the acid-modified citrus pectin fraction MCP-2 was used as a natural solubilizing matrix to improve the aqueous solubility of quercetin.. Quercetin solubility reached a maximum at 1.0 mg/mL MCP-2, approximately 3.9-fold that in water. In this study, a thin Cr2AlC coating with a thickness of 4.7 ± 0.6 μm was deposited on H13 steel via cold spraying using agglomerated spherical Cr2AlC feedstock, and its high-temperature tribological behavior was investigated under reciprocating sliding at 1000 C. Compared with uncoated H13 steel, the Cr2AlC-coated specimen exhibited a more uniform worn morphology and a lower wear loss, whereas the difference in friction coefficient was relatively limited.. Notably, the wear-track depth of the coated specimen exceeded the initial coating thickness, indicating that the Cr2AlC coating did not act solely as a thickness-dependent mechanical barrier.
