Nine-month-old WT (n = 3) and St3gal2-null (null, n = 3) mice were treated with insulin (1 U/kg body weight) and then tissues were dissected, extracted and the extracted proteins were resolved by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). Resolved proteins were blotted to nitrocellulose membranes and immunoblotted with antibodies to phospho-IRS-1 (P-IRS-1), IRS-1 (IRS), phospho-Akt (P-Akt) and Akt.
