Protein expression of TLR-9, a ∼115–120 kDa molecule, is demonstrated in CD19+ lamina propria and peripheral blood mononuclear cells by Western blot analysis (b). TLR-9 densitometry results (a) were adjusted to actin. Dynabead sorted CD4+ lamina propria and peripheral blood mononuclear cells were used as a control. TLR-9 was also detected in the CD4+ group, although to a lesser extent. Non-inflamed tissue from three different patients was used in the four columns (a)/lanes (b) on the left; inflammed tissue from one patient with ulcerative colitis was used in the two columns/lanes on the right.
