(B) The ratio of fluorescence (F 340/380 ) amplifies the fluorescence change and reports directly on the [Mg 2+ ] m where F 340/380 is plotted. The F 340/380 immediately following the addition of 5 mM Mg 2+ to the initial, (F 340/380 ) t=200 + /(F 340/380 ) t=190 -, is a measure of the MRS2-dependent Mg 2+ rapid influx capacity.
