Once A. veronii is exposed to the sensor probe, the aptamer’s strong affinity for A. veronii causes aptamer desorption from the AuNPs, resulting in catalytic activity recovery (NanoZyme ON). Nevertheless, no color appears when the sensor probe is exposed to other bacteria, suggesting that the aptamers do not desorb from the surface of the AuNPs (NanoZyme Off).
