Vegetative cells were plated in HL5 growth medium or Na/K phosphate buffer on a plate with a hole covered by a glass coverslip and were imaged. phg2 -null cells show lamellipodia-like (white arrows) or filopodia-like structures (black arrows) compared with wild-type cells.
