Article Snippet: Biological screening performed on three cancer cell lines C-32, MDA-MB-231, and A549, reference bacterial strains S. aureus ATCC 29213 and E. faecalis ATCC 29212, and clinical isolates of MRSA and VRE demonstrated the inactivity of 8-methoxy derivatives 6a – d as well as 1,2,3-triazole derivatives 7a – h . In contrast, the acetylenic derivatives of 8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonamide 3a – f were shown to be biologically active.
